TMPS Features and Structure

The pore structure of TMPS can be precisely controlled by the choice of templates and synthetic parameters. Taiyo offers Regular Grade (RG), Special Grade (SG)
and Very Special Grade (VSG) Mesoporous Silica having the following:

TMPS RGP2-1

Tunable pore sizes: 1.5, 4.0 and 7.0 nm
Varied pore volumes: 0.44 to 1.0 cm3/g
High specific surface areas: 900 to 1000 m2/g

TMPS SGP2-2

Tunable large pore sizes: 7 to 20 nm with textural microporosity (6-8 Å)
Larger pore volumes: 1.3 to 1.9 cm3/g
High specific surface areas: 500 to 700 m2/g
Wormhole type pore structures with lower silanols concentration:

  • 0.76 OH group per nm2 compared to 4.16 OH per nm2 of SBA-15 type nanoporous silica
  • Highly cross linked silica Q3:Q4 = 6:94

Prepared using highly refined food grade emulsifier as structure director

TMPS VSGP2-3

Uniform hollow spherical particles: 20 to 50 µm
Varied pore sizes: 7 to 12 nm
Interconnected pore channels: Extended from outside of the microspheres shell to its inside
